Every good parent wants their children to get the best education that they can possibly give them, but in so many cases low income parents have a terrible time achieving that goal. When it takes every dollar that you can earn just to get your children raised to the age of eighteen, the prospect of coming up with thousands and thousands of additional money just to put one child through college can be impossible, let alone several children.
Of course, there have always been scholarships for kids who are labeled as gifted and this sometimes meant the difference between being able to go to college or not. The sad reality is that the majority of kids who manage to graduate high school do not fall into the gifted category, but that does not in mean that it is less important for those to be able to go to college. Sometimes these kids will not do as well in some academic areas such as mathematics or science, but can have wonderful writing or computer skills.
